You might recognize Dalgona coffee as the viral trend we’ve been seeing on Tik Tok and Youtube, tagged as “satisfying content”. This frothy coffee recipe originally comes from places in India, Pakistan, and Macau, but the dalgona coffee we have been seeing on our feeds started in Korea. The recipe was featured on Korean TV, and renamed “dalgona” due to its resemblance of a Korean candy by the same name.
The popularity may be due to its photogenic texture and unique creamy color, but the recipe is easy enough for anyone to make at home.
The standard recipe is equal parts powdered coffee, sugar, and hot water, whisked together and poured over milk and ice. Cold brew concentrate or finely ground coffee beans can easily be subbed for the powdered-instant coffee that the recipe calls for.
